"The focus of this year's European Conference of the Networking
European Citizenship Education (NECE) is the impact of citizenship
and cultural education on social cohesion. Against the background of
the most serious financial crises within this century and the
progress of the Lisbon Strategy, the European Union will put special
efforts to combat poverty and social exclusion in 2010. With the aim
to become the most competitive and dynamic knowledge-based economic
area in the world, curricular and extracurricular education are
acknowledged as the fundamental milestones along the roadmap.
Bringing experts and multipliers together, the conference will search
for and deploy creative impulses for a pan-European citizenship
education and will work to strengthen its impact on social processes
within the diverse landscape of social and civil organizations in
Europe.
In this context a Call for Projects is launched looking for your
outstanding and innovative examples for working models, concepts and
projects as well as new didactic materials for teaching citizenship
and cultural education for the purpose of strengthening social cohesion.
Further information about terms and condition you will find attached
in the application form or on the website www.nece.eu.
Application deadline is August 30th, 2009.
The conference takes place from December 3rd-5th, 2009 in Vilnius,
Lithuania - one of the two European Capitals of Culture 2009.

simultaneous translation.
The NECE network is a European platform established by the Federal
Agency for Civic Education to initiate the linking of citizenship
